Grab some ice cream—especially vanilla, if you have it. Drizzle a bit of caramel syrup on top, spread on a dark apple butter, or go with candied pecans and whipped cream. For a lighter take, simply dust confectioners’ sugar over the top.
To crush candy canes, dump the unwrapped candies into a resealable bag. Seal the bag, then place it on a stable work surface (lay down a kitchen towel underneath to protect the countertops). Gently crush with a hammer or rolling pin or the smooth side of a meat mallet until they’re broken into small pieces.
Make this raspberry coffee cake with tangy raspberry filling and crunchy topping, and it will quickly become a favorite with your family and dinner guests.
The cake mix will make the centers of these biscotti a little more tender, just as cake-mix cookies are. (Try this chocolate cake cookies recipe for comparison.) Biting through these shouldn’t be as hard as it can be with traditional biscotti. However, you can dunk them if you want to or if you feel the final biscotti have baked up very hard.
This is a delicious and pretty salad for the holidays, but it's so good that I serve it at other times, too. I got the recipe from a neighbor who had served it with a traditional turkey dinner.
Strawberry mousse is a light and creamy dessert bursting with fresh berry flavor. It takes just three ingredients and 15 minutes to whip up this sweet treat that's sure to impress!
These football cookies are the ultimate game day dessert. Thick sugar cookies are baked just until set and then decorated with royal icing to look like a football—they're sweet, delicious and perfectly on-theme.
One of the best things about sweet panettone bread pudding is its versatility. It’s delicious served warm right out of the oven, but it can also be served at room temperature or even cold. Top slices of the bread pudding with a dollop of homemade whipped cream or the best vanilla ice cream you can find. Warm slices of the bread pudding are delicious topped with sweet sauces, like caramel sauce, lemon dessert sauce or hard sauce made with nutmeg and rum.
I made these decadent chocolate caramel crunch bars and took them to a reunion with my sorority sisters last fall. We all gathered in a cabin in the woods and shared desserts around the fire. These were the perfect easy-to-eat bars.
Biscoff cheesecake puts the warm and spicy flavors of Biscoff cookies into cheesecake form. Including both Biscoff cookies and Biscoff cookie spread, this cheesecake will have cookie fans making it on repeat.
Too much ice in sherbet usually has the same causes as too much ice in ice cream: too much water and too little fat, as previously discussed. It may be that the pineapple you pureed was so juicy that there was a little too much juice in the recipe. It may also be that the dairy you used didn’t have enough fat. It could be that you had both too much juice and too little fat simultaneously. This is also why ice cream recipes tend to use cream and whole milk, rather than skim milk; the lack of fat allows the liquid in the recipe to turn into watery slush. Make the recipe as instructed with heavy whipping cream, and when you cut the pineapple, place it in a strainer for a few minutes to let excess juice drip off.
This fudge Velveeta cheese is great on its own, but if you want to pair it with something, we recommend you go à la mode with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
If you don’t make desserts often, sweetened condensed milk might not be a staple in your kitchen. You can use a couple of substitutes if you can’t get to the store to buy some. One option is making your own sweetened condensed milk using milk and sugar; the result won’t be as thick or caramelized, but it will do. Other sweetened condensed milk substitutes exist, including using evaporated milk or coconut milk.
