This recipe for a traditional Kentucky Hot Brown will keep you dancing all night long!
Ingredients
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
dash ground nutmeg
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon grated pecorino romano cheese, divided
4 slices texas toast, crust removed
2 small tomatoes, halved
14 ounces thickly sliced cooked turkey breast
4 cooked bacon strips
chopped fresh parsley
paprika
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour, salt, pepper and nutmeg until smooth. Gradually whisk in cream and milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Add 1/2 cup cheese; stir until melted. Keep warm.
In each of 2 small cast-iron or other ovenproof skillets, place one slice of toast in the center of the skillet. Cut remaining 2 slices toast in half diagonally and arrange one triangle on either side of the toast in the center of the pans. Arrange turkey over toast and add 2 tomato halves, cut sides up to skillet. Pour sauce over turkey, toast and tomatoes in both skillets.
Bake until lightly browned and bubbly, 10-15 minutes. Top with bacon, remaining 1 tablespoon cheese, parsley and paprika. Serve immediately.
